Doug Folland, DVM, Diplomate-ABVP Avian specialty

Veterinarian

Dr. Doug Folland is the founder of Parrish Creek Veterinary Clinic. He has loved animals and enjoyed various pets most of his life. He graduated from Utah State University and received his DVM degree from Oregon State University in 1983. In 2016, the clinic was sold to Blue River Pet Care. Although the ownership of the clinic has changed, the day-to-day operation and the principles upon which it was founded, integrity, high-quality care, exceptional service, and attention to our clients’ and patients’ needs, remains. Dr. Folland retired in February 2019 to pursue other interests including full-time missionary service in New Zealand for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is grateful for the many loyal clients and friends he has enjoyed over the years. It has been exciting and fulfilling to provide care to so many awesome pets and animals. He is particularly indebted to his loyal staff who have worked so hard to make Parrish Creek Veterinary Clinic a success. M. Scott Echols, DVM, Diplomate-ABVP Avian Specialty

Veterinarian

Dr. Echols has been an animal lover since a child and has worked with or cared for many species of companion, private collection, endangered wildlife, and zoo animals. Scott, his wife Layle ( also a veterinarian), and their daughter Alaina share their home with several animals including Italian greyhounds, a cat, and an African grey parrot. He graduated from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995 and completed a residency in avian medicine and surgery at the Medical Center for Birds in Oakley, California in 1999. In addition to being a frequent internationally recognized author and lecturer, Dr. Echols has been awarded the TJ Lafeber International Avian Practitioner of the Year and Texas Non-traditional Species Practitioner of the Year Awards. Dr. Echols serves as an Adjunct Professor for Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine as well as a Visiting Professor for many universities in the US and abroad. Dr. Echols co-founded Mobile Avian Surgical Services to help meet the consultation and surgical needs of bird and exotic animal patients throughout the US. His company, Avian Studios ( www.avianstudios.com) was formed to create digital media that helps caregivers improve the lives of captive birds. Dr. Echols is a past president of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, a reviewer of scientific papers and has worked with numerous veterinary organizations in different capacities. While Dr. Echols works internationally, he and his family live in Utah and he most frequently works at Parrish Creek Veterinary Clinic.

Jennifer Shuck, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Jennifer Shuck has been passionate about animals and learning as long as she can remember. She graduated from Utah State University in 2008 with a degree in biochemistry. She attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University and graduated with her DVM in 2012. She lives with her husband, three children, three dogs ranging in size from 7 to 140 pounds, and two ferrets. Her family has lived in several states since graduation and are happy to be back home in Utah. Dr. Shuck is excited to be working at Parrish Creek Veterinary Hospital & Diagnostic Center, where she can provide care for all types of animals in need and the humans who love them. When not helping animals of all shapes and sizes, she enjoys spending time with her family outdoors, cooking, reading, gardening, and playing board games.

Dawn Daugherty, DVM, MPH

Veterinarian

Dr. Dawn Daugherty, DVM, MPH, wanted to become a veterinarian ever since she was a small child. She is originally from Saint Louis Missouri, where she spent time volunteering at a few wildlife rehabilitation centers prior to starting veterinary school. Dr. Daugherty obtained a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2018 from the University of Minnesota, and was accepted into the dual degree program where she received a Master’s of Public Health and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2021. She completed externships at LSU's Exotic and Wildlife Hospital, Broward Exotic Veterinary Clinic, and the University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center. She also spent time volunteering at the largest wildlife hospital in the world, The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota. Dr. Daugherty was selected to receive a competitive scholarship from the University of Minnesota which involved three weeks of working on wildlife species conservation in South Africa. Dr. Daugherty received her Fear Free Certification for dogs and cats in 2021. She was inducted into the Phi Theta Veterinary Honor Society in 2021, which is awarded to veterinarians that graduate in the top 25% of their class. Dr. Daugherty is interested in working with all species, has a special interest in birds and surgery. She is currently mentoring under Dr. M. Scott Echols, DVM, ABVP (Avian) to become board certified in Avian Medicine. Dr. Daugherty is married, has two Bulldogs, and a 19-year-old Green Wing Macaw, that she has had since he was a hatchling. During her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, hiking, crafting, drawing, painting, and spending time with her friends and family.

Ashlee

Practice Manager

Ashlee has always been a huge animal lover and has enjoyed working with all types of animals. She spent most of her childhood hanging around her mother's grooming shop, often bathing dogs and cats. She even started grooming at age 14. She continued to groom until her mom retired and sold the shop. She loves to volunteer for different animal rescue organizations. One day, she would like to manage a veterinary clinic and have her own rescue group. In her free time, she enjoys running, cooking, camping, and spending time with her family. At home, she entertains three dogs, one cat, a veiled chameleon, two teenagers, and one foster daughter.

Hailey

Veterinary Technician

Hailey has been passionate about animals her whole life. She was born in Oregon and moved to Utah when she was 11. She just recently finished her Veterinary Technician schooling and is hoping to sit for her VTNE soon. When she isn't cuddling chinchilla's at Parrish Creek she enjoys spending her time outdoors!

Rebecka

Veterinary Technician

Rebecka was born in Utah but grew up in a military family where she moved often. She even got to spend five years of her life in Europe. She has had a love for animals from the age of eight, walking through her neighborhood knocking on people's doors to walk their dogs. In 2017 she got her Veterinary Assistant certification through Animal Behavior College. During school, she spent her free time fostering Neo-Natal kittens and volunteering at several animal shelters in California. In 2018 Rebecka moved back to Utah. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her daughter. At home, she entertains her adorable daughter and German Shepherd. Her love for exotics, especially snakes has grown and she is excited to learn more about them here at Parrish Creek!

Jules

Veterinary Technician

Jules is originally from Vancouver, Washington and now resides in Salt Lake City, Utah! She initially attended Westminster College for nursing but her passion for animals was stronger, and she graduated from Broadview University in 2018. Jules loves to travel & has visited 14 different countries! She most recently spent her summer in Italy sculpting. She enjoys art of all types and sculpts in bronze, marble, and ceramics. At home, she has a Goldendoodle named Willow. You will not find her far from Willow because she is the coolest dog she knows! Jules has been at Parrish Creek since September 2018.

Jack

Receptionist

Jack has loved animals his whole life, growing up with two Labradors, a cat, and a Snorkie in Farmington, Utah. He's been working with animals ever since his senior year of high school and is attending the fall semester at the University of Utah. In his free time, Jack enjoys meeting new people and anything to do with the outdoors including, climbing, hiking, camping, fishing, etc. He thoroughly enjoys wildlife photography and a good conversation about animals, the outdoors and really anything in between.
